  1. Thank you for this post! I work with teachers of preschool aged children. I think the “sticker chart” technique is so ingrained that it is hard to convince teachers that it is not effective for those students they are trying to help. Challenging behaviors are best approached by first building the relationship as you mentioned and then teaching replacement behaviors. Sticker charts do neither.
