    Humans are competitive by nature. Critically questioning who is benefiting from increasing competition is always key. Sometimes this can be the issue with school choice and performance pay initiatives that place competition above collaboration, and as such are problematic. My feeling is that authentic collaboration, rather than solely cooperation, with elements of healthy competition provide the best environment to maximise the potential of educators and the students they are lucky to teach.
